The Morrisons Foundation offers grants of up to £10,000 for registered charities delivering projects within our three funding objective.

  • Tackling poverty and social deprivation.
  • Enhancing community spaces, facilities and services.
  • Improving health and wellbeing.

Please read our Grant Funding Policy in full before submitting an application. We’ve also listed below some points to help you understand the types of applications the Trustees are looking for. It is essential your application meets our criteria in full.

Sadly, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we’re only able to fund around 1 in 10 applications that do meet our criteria.

Applications must:

  • Be from a registered charity.
  • Be for £10,000 or less.
  • Fund a specific project, meeting one of our three funding objectives in England, Scotland or Wales.

We prefer applications:

  • From smaller charities (i.e. income of less than £1m).
  • For projects in the communities Morrisons serves.
  • For projects which create a lasting legacy or impact.
  • For projects with a larger number of beneficiaries.

We would not support applications:

  • For running costs, including salaries or ongoing service delivery.
  • For projects supporting animal welfare.
  • From charities that promote religious or political messages.
  • To pay for events, sponsorship or marketing.
  • Where the charity’s accounts have been filed late have been ‘qualified’ by the Charity Commission / OSCR or where they have not yet filed accounts.
  • Which have previously been rejected.

Project Finances

I am applying on behalf of a charity that has been registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (CCEW) or the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) for over one year.

The charity’s documents (i.e. Trustees Report and Financial Accounts) have been filed ‘on time’ with the CCEW and/or OSCR for the previous three years, or as long as the charity has been registered if less than three years.

I am applying for a grant towards a project which would support people in a local community in England, Scotland or Wales

I am applying for a grant of £10,000 or less that will wholly fund my project.
