Care for Veterans

05 August 2022

Care for Veterans, a charity that operates a 60-bed facility in Worthing providing nursing and rehabilitation care for disabled ex-service personnel and their families, were delighted to be awarded a donation of over £4,560.

Our support has enabled the charity to purchase new beds to increase the comfort of patients who receive specialist care from the nursing staff.

Andy Blyth, Head of Clinical Services at Care for Veterans explains: "The comfort and safety of residents is our number one priority and with a number of beds showing signs of wear and tear, they were in urgent need of replacement. We are hugely grateful to the Morrisons Foundation in awarding a grant of £4,560 which allows us to replace five beds and ensures veterans living with an acquired brain injury can get a good night's sleep."

Care for Veterans is the only home on the south coast of England dedicated to providing residential care, combined with rehabilitation support, to veterans. Specialist support is offered to veterans with an acquired brain injury such as trauma or stroke, or degenerative neurological conditions, for example Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

In addition to intensive rehabilitation therapies, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy, the charity also offers a vibrant programme of social and well-being activities.
