Family Gateway, an award winning charity that works with children, young people and their families in Wallsend were delighted to receive our donation of £8,000.

The funding will enable the charity to provide a range of emergency provisions for children, families and individuals from the local community who are facing financial difficulties due to the cost of living crisis. Items in the much-needed packages include warm clothing, bedding and food parcels, which are in high demand during the cold winter months.

Aimee Perry, Business Development Manager at Family Gateway said: "Local individuals in the community were some of those most impacted by Covid-19 and are still suffering from the pandemic’s legacy.

“We have seen a significant increase in demand this year, particularly for food and clothing, which we are unable to access funding for with ease. Having the support from Morrisons Foundation will allow us to better support our local community. We are extremely grateful that we are able to do this with their help."

Operating from their Howdon Community Hub in Wallsend, Family Gateway provide a range of activities suitable for all ages and a range of support services including supporting children at risk of going into care, young people at risk of becoming involved in crime and antisocial behaviour and work alongside local Primary Care Networks to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
