Staff, patients and their families at Royal Preston Hospital were delighted to receive our grant of £2,319.

Our support enabled the team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity (LTHC) to buy 40 new, child-friendly bed-boards for the children’s ward.

Young patients at the Royal Preston Hospital now have the opportunity to show their personality and have their voice better heard by expressing themselves in words and drawings on their end of bed bed-board.

The wipe-clean bed-boards, which are full of colourful animations, have space for children using drywipe pens to let staff know what makes them happy and sad.

Rebecca Arestidou, LTHC’s Trust, Grant, Fundraising Impact and Project Officer said: “The bed-boards that were in place were not designed at all for children. The contrast between them and the new ones we now have thanks to the Morrisons Foundation couldn’t be greater.

“The new bed-boards are really colourful and fun so help make the ward environment more child-friendly. Best of all, they can be filled in by the children themselves. They can personalise their bed-board to let staff know what scares and upsets them and what brings them happiness.

”This helps staff get to know their young patients better and do what they can to make their stay the best it can be. The bed-boards are giving a voice to even the quietest and shyest children.”
