Mum and Me
We awarded a grant of £5,096 to Mum and Me, a charity that provides drop-in centre for vulnerable parents and children in Arbroath.
Our support helped the charity to purchase soft-furnishings for their facility as well as toys, dressing up clothes and Christmas gifts for children. In addition, our donation helped Mum and Me to continue to offer weekly support sessions to families in hardship.
The sessions give parents the opportunity to take part in activities focusing on crafts, cooking, budgeting, parenting and nurture, providing much-needed support and an opportunity to learn new skills. Meanwhile, their children are cared for in a staffed crèche and during this time they are building their own skills of socializing, problem solving and sharing.
Liane Parsons, Chairperson said, “We at Mum and Me are over the moon to receive the donation from the Morrisons Foundation. The Morrisons Community Champions have also worked closely with us throughout this difficult year to ensure families have what they need during lockdown and we're really pleased they suggested we apply for this donation.”
“As a young charity, this amount of money will help us to continue to provide a safe space for mum's to come and be refreshed, learn new skills and form good friendships. Their children will benefit from new and stimulating toys and once lockdown is eased, we hope to have a few day trips away to enable all involved to relax and have fun."
“Due to this wonderful donation, this week we have been able to buy all the Christmas presents for each of the 40 families. Many parents have said we are a group that has kept them going through this difficult time and we thank the Morrisons Foundation and the Morrisons Community Champions for providing their valuable services.”
