The Parachute Regimental Association Morecambe and District

05 November 2020

We were delighted to support The Parachute Regimental Association (PRA) Morecambe and District with an award of £3,000 to support community projects for Airborne Veterans and their families.

Our grant has enabled the charity to purchase foldable wheelchairs to enable veterans with mobility impairment to continue to participate in events and activities arranged by the PRA. The funds will also help the charity to support veterans during the Christmas period with hampers and social opportunities to help tackle isolation amongst their members.

Established at the end of the Second World War, The PRA was formed to enable relationships built between service personnel to continue to their friendships and arrange activities to maintain life-long companionship. Some 75 years later The PRA, in partnership with other Regimental Charities, is still able to organise social events to keep those relationships going as well as provide welfare support and advice to those in need or distress.

Peter Neaves, Secretary of The Parachute Regimental Association Morecambe and District noted, “Like many local charities the PRA rely on support from local supermarkets, street collections and the generosity of the local community to keep running but due to COVID 19 restrictions the charity has struggled throughout 2020.”
