St Peter's Hospice

Bristol’s St Peter's Hospice were delighted to receive our donation of £4,272. Thanks to our support, the hospice has been able to install innovative audio equipment to alleviate patients who have hearing impairment.

The specialist equipment includes neck loops for patients, which reduces the impact of background noise from medical treatment devices as well as table microphones that synchronise with those who wear hearing aids.  These essential pieces of equipment ensure clarity of sound for patients, particularly during the wellbeing courses the hospice provides to patients.

Rachael James, Wellbeing Service and Therapy Team Manager said: “With this new piece of equipment, people with hearing impairment will be able to engage with our courses in a way they never have before. The barriers will be overcome, and people will be able to interact fully and on a level with other attendees.

“Our Living Well and Fatigue and Breathlessness groups provide life-changing tips and techniques for people to manage and live well with their condition. They also present valuable opportunities for people to come together with others and share experiences - the importance of this cannot be overestimated.”

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol's only adult hospice.  The charity provides free care and support for people with an end-of-life diagnosis and their families, taking a holistic approach, helping people clinically, emotionally, socially and spiritually, during a patient’s treatment and offering bereavement support to their loved ones.
