Tameside and Glossop NHS Charity were delighted to receive our donation of £4,400.
Our support funded four specialist 'Swan Beds' at Tameside Hospital, enabling loved ones to stay overnight with a patient who is receiving palliative care.
Emily Burgin, Charity Manager said: “As the official charity of Tameside and Glossop IC NHS Foundation Trust, we support our staff, patients and their families who are receiving care from Tameside Hospital and in our community settings.
“Our hospital and community services provide care for a population of around 250,000 and are there for us all from day one of our lives and throughout.
“The generous donation from the Morrisons Foundation has been used to purchase four new Swan Beds for the hospital. The purpose of the beds is to allow loved ones to stay overnight when a patient is sadly approaching the end of their life.
“The beds are a vital lifeline for families who wished to be by their loved one’s side at such a sensitive and difficult time. The Swan Beds also mean families do not have to travel back and forth or book hotel rooms, at such a hard time.
“These additional beds will allow us to support more families every single day, making a difference at the time that matters most.”
Alison Cox, Community Champion at the Morrisons store in Dukinfield presented the donation to the charity, saying: “I’m very proud that we’ve been able to provide this grant to such a wonderful cause in our community.
“The hospital staff work tirelessly to provide vital care to patients, their families and carers and the new beds really will make a big difference to many people from across our region.
“Supporting charities at the heart of our community is what the Morrisons Foundation is all about and I’m privileged to be able to present this donation to Tameside and Glossop NHS Charity.”
