Trust Links, a charity that provides support and wellbeing to people affected by mental health conditions from across Southend, were delighted to be awarded a grant of £10,000.
Our support will enable the charity to convert a shipping container into a learning centre at their St Laurence Community Orchard facility. The new classroom at the 100 year old orchard will offer a place to host horticultural and wildlife management activities for children and young people as well as provide shelter for volunteers who manage the orchard all year round.
Matt King, CEO of Trust Links said: "St Laurence Orchard is such a wonderful resource in our community for nature and for people, helping to bring people together to nurture fruit trees, produce a harvest and connect with nature. We are so grateful to Morrisons Foundation for providing this grant: the classroom will be such a valuable space for learning as well as a welcome space in rain and sun!
“The work that Trust Links does in Essex has never been more needed, with the mental health, cost of living and climate crises that we are facing as a society. Our work at St Laurence Orchard and our Growing Together projects helps to make a contribution to addressing these, providing safe, welcoming, sustainable and low cost spaces for people to improve wellbeing and build community."
